passing the days....

Since we've been living in a quarantine zone of a home for the last week with everyone sick with chest-cold/flu/plague-like symptoms, I've been feeling like one big biohazard.  We've had no play-dates or friends come over to visit (unless they wore their HazMat suits) so with my downtime stuck on the couch I've had the chance to watch a few movies, download some music and catch up on my book-club reading.

Currently reading
Saving CeeCee Honeycutt. So far so good, kinda like a mix between Steel Magnolias and The Help. I've already cried a few times and I'm only a about 100 pages in (but a combo of NyQuil and Ambien will do that...)

Like the book of the same name, it seems to be one those movies either you really like or kinda couldn't stand to get through. Personally I didn't mind it.  And, obviously Italy is the best country in the world. Period.

The original Swedish movie version of The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo from the book trilogy. It was long, dark, a bit twisted and very Swedish. Overall a good interpretation of the book. However reading subtitles can get old, fast.

Due Date, starring Robert Downey Jr. and Zach Galifianakis. Pretty much an updated Planes, Trains and Automobiles. I had heard mixed reviews on this one and didn't expect many laughs but both actors are so real in their performances that I couldn't help but like it.  And Zach G's deadpan delivery of ridiculous lines like "Dad...you were like a father to me."... make you stop, think for a second and then chuckle.

Listening to

If you haven't already discovered British singer/songwriter Adele, you're seriously missing out. Her new album "21" was just released in the US in February and her single "Rolling in the Deep" in inspired. Trust.

Feast your ears on this....

I am loving Adele's album. I downloaded the WHOLE thing!

Okay, so I didn't like Due Date too much (but I could watch RDJ for hours on end); I think it was Zach Galifininadfdanf's character... I don't know AGH!!! BUT, I agree with you on Eat, Pray, Love. I typically hate books turned movies (not all, most), but this one didn't bother me, even though I thought the book was better obviously. I think the movie added a different dimension with the scenery aspect. Sometimes it is easier to see it than imagine it in your head. And I soooo agree about the Girl with the Dragon Tattoo. I was stoked to watch it, and midway through, the subtitles lost me. LOL. I ended up shutting it off!

Hope you have a great week and I hope your household gets Lysoled and better soon!!!!

I need to start reading again. When I was pregnant with #1 I would read 3-4 books a week. Since I had the kids I can't get through 1 book. What is wrong with my attention span? You inspire me to try to read again.

K, now I want to read Beth Hoffman's book! I loved 'Eat Pray Love', the book, not the movie. The book was so much better. And Adele's voice? I can't get enough! Hope you all are starting to feel better! Is it snowing there? It is here. No fun.

Great little post, on a day like today there's nothing I'd rather do more than hibernate with books!

I actually have Adele on my ipod. Several of her songs! Love her. My whole house was sick too, (for practically a whole month). It was ridiculous! I wanted to let you know that I am all of the sudden NOT getting your posts to my Google. I have no idea why, but I am going to RE-join your blog and see if it takes care of it. It's always something....

not a hug fan of eat pray love the movie. really liked the book though.

LOVED girl with the dragon tattoo. it's totally swedish but then so is the book.

wasn't too keen on due date. i thought they tried too hard. and all the funny parts were in the preview so there was nothing new or fresh about it. IMO anyway.

I've seen Eat Pray Love and I was a little disappointed, though the eating scenes (especially in Italy) made me very hungry! Hope everyone feels better soon - we're still recovering from plague symptoms here too!
