Orange is sooo March 2010....

Hey lovelies, hope you all had a fabulous Mother's Day weekend!  Husband and I had my parents and brothers over for a family dinner on Sunday nite. We had some great food (seafood linguine) and we polished off a bottle or four of wine. I was gifted with a few homemade cards and a nice grocery-store bought bouquet of flowers. Ahhh the rewards of motherhood!

This morning I was back to my regular salon to get my highlights overhauled after The Orange Hair Disaster of March 2010. My hair is back to a golden honey blond and all is right with the world again. It seems like such a minor thing but I feel so much better knowing my hair is back in biznass.
I like my stylist, he's a nice guy, chatty and seems knowledgeable enough (or at least he talks a good game). But he can never manage to give me exactly what I'm looking for.  I am still amazed at how hard it really is to get exactly what I want when I go to the salon. I always take in photos with me (on the off chance that my self imposed, mandatory 10 minute consultation of what I want isn't enough.)  But amazingly I often walk out of the salon disappointed. Over the years I have been to so many different stylists and different salons all in hopes of finding "THE ONE".... that being the perfect stylist who can make my hair look fab everytime and gives me exactly what I asked for. But since she/he does not exist I will settle for "Not too bad"...
Are my expectations too high? No I don't think so...
But it now seems clearer to me than ever that I really do need to get in touch with celebrity stylist to the stars, Ken Paves. One of my readers was kind enough to tell me that she saw him in Vegas last weekend hanging out working with Eva Longoria and her large entourage.

{Hand him over bitch!}

Is it just me? Am I the only person who is never really happy with their stylist? Do you get exactly what you wanted when you walk out of the salon???

I'm glad your hair is fixed! I find hair is so difficult, most the hair I love is fake so that is something I will never get, lol! My sister is my stylist but I must give her the most stress. But she does a good job.

So totally not you. I don't think I've ever gotten exactly what I was with a hair stylist. You can bring a picture, what a novel, explain for hours... and you'll still not get it!
Cute blog! Love that you're a 'kid wrangler!'

My hair is not something I mess with. I have had 3 steady stylists in 26 years, all chosen based on (many many) other people's hair. I love love the one I have now. If you lived near me I would send you right over.

I've had moments where I wanted to find my own Ken Paves too!

Hey you asked about the trunk I made, I just bought a wooden trunk from a craft shop and painted it. If you wanted me to make you one let me know and I could maybe make a custom trunk for you!

OK...missy, you and I get more and more alike! How funny that we would both talk about Ken P and our hair woes on this monday! haha! I agree that finding someone who does that amazing job is so hard, especially when you go to the effort of bringing pics and everything!!!! It's so hard what us gals go through!

I used to get exactly what I wanted until my stylist got a new boyfriend and moved to Texas. I haven't found anyone to do exactly what I want since.

I think when it comes to our hair - we should have high expectations. I had the perfect stylist and then I moved. It was very upsetting to me for some time. I found another girl here, and she is good, but it is still not the same. I hope you have a great week. Stop by my blog to enter my giveaway. www.elonacreations.blogspot.com

it's not you but it's not always the stylist either. sometimes what you want just can't be done on your hair. i know shocker. i had to learn the hard way. hello my hair is muddy dark blah brown. aka not ideal for coloring.
