Brunettes have fun too, right?

What to do, what to do?.....  I've been tossing around the idea of taking my hair back to my "roots" and going dark again. Honestly I'm a little freaked about it because I've had some level of honey brown, with golden blond highlights for years. Like years and years. I haven't been my original colour of dark brown since 1996. I honestly barely remember what it really looks like on me (pics when you're 18 don't count for nothing.) I almost can't even wrap my mind around what it will look like on this current version of Mama.
I'm not sure why I'm so apprehensive, it's just hair colour. But I can`t help but feel lighter and brighter with blond(er) hair. This summer in Greece my hair became ridiculously bleached out due to the sea/sun double whammie but it`s really a bit too much right now considering we've hit full-on winter autumn type temperatures. In the past I've liked blonder hair in the summer and going a bit darker in the fall. But not like this, I'm talking about making a mayjah change!

{hair colour du jour....or should I say for the last decade...}

Here's my hair inspiration(s)

{Kim and Kourtney have almost black/brown hair, maybe that's a bit too dark?}

If I'm gonna be honest here, Husband is totally poo-pooing the idea. He's always liked me with blonder/lighter hair. But then again he's never actually seen me with darker hair. But I'm thinking about making this change for me...right?!  I do feel like you stand out more with lighter coloured hair (does that make me a bit of an attention whore seeker?)  Maybe...

 Girls I need some help, input and opinions please!!! This is no easy decision. Sure its just hair colour but I also feel like it's part of my identity...

You would look gorgeous with any color hair, truly! I tried to go darker and I hated it and it was a big shock for me after having highlights for so many years. Everyone I know is going darker for the fall and winter. Your skin tone is so beautiful and the lighter color hair suits you so well. Do you have pics with your natural color. Maybe compare the two and then decide. No matter what you decide, you will rock the color and style, you are beautiful! =) ~Liz

I used to always highlight my hair and my natural color is almost black. I went back to super dark about a year and a half ago and I love it!!! I say try it...if you don't like it you can always lighten it up again :)

Whenever I see someone go from blonge to brown I always think they end up looking kind of...plain. Perhaps you need to go brown with highlights?

I'm a natural brunette. I don't think I could ever go blonde.. or even light. My hair is dark, but I dye it black.dark brown for the summer and leave it natural during the winter. Love all the hair color in these pictures.. I think it'd be a smart choice for ya! ;)

I'm being totally honest here, but I really think you could pull off either! You have the complexion for dark or blonde!

I went dark last fall and liked it, but I'm just a blonde at heart, so I ended up putting highlights back in it. You should give it a shot though! You can always take it back blonde if you get tired of the dark!

You are a gorgeous honey blonde, but like Leslie said, you look like one of the rare lucky ones who can pull off both light and dark. I think a chocolate brown would look heavenly with your eyes. Give it a go. If you don't like it, you can always get blonde again by summer x

Do it! Do it! Brunetts have so much fun :-) But no, hair is suppose to be switched up... cut, colored, styled. Brown is a perfect fall/winter color. You're going to look stunning!... not that you don't already dear :-)

DO IT!!! (said in a rough italian NY style accent)

I know I'm sounding like most of your other commenters, but you really could do either with your coloring.
I have had a long history of going from brunette to blonde and back again - several times. I like both on me, but the blonde was higher maintenance and not very healthy for my hair, which is long like yours.

I would try a semi or demi-permanent color in a medium brown. If you don't like it, it will wash out sooner or later.

Oooh goodness. Do you KNOW how many times I've gone through this myself?? It's so tough to choose!

Blonde is definitely fun and attention-grabbing (and it looks HOT on you!), but if you want something different, I say go darker! You'll be amazed at how sexy and mysterious you feel with darker hair... and it always makes your eyes stand out. It's crazy.

Plus, you can always go back to blonde in about 12 short hair bleaching sessions. :) Looking forward to seeing what you decide on!

I say go for it. If after three days it doesn't make you happy, wait until your hairdresser can take it back slowly. If you don't try it, you will always wonder. At least you have the option. My skin tone is too olive to go lighter. My hairdresser puts this shine on it after getting it colored and whatever that shine is, it makes it amazing. It makes the world of difference in the dark color. I think kate beckinsale's color would look fab on you.

I say try the dark hair! You can always go lighter again when spring come around!

Easy for me to say, but every fall I think the same thing... should I go dark?!? And then I go a little darker, but nothing dramatic. My natural shade is dark blonde (dishwater... gross) hair, so that's what holding me back...

I wanna see pics asap if you do it!

Hey sister, I think exactly the same thing, am I ready to move over to the dark side? I tried with lowlights and I want more...I want to look a little bit more sophisticated...but I´m afraid it will make me look ...old, argh, le sigh. I think it will suit you, and remember, darker hair always looks more shiny. I want to do it. Let´s do it together, ha!

hahaha! i still stand by the fact that all guys like blondes, thats prob why your hubby isn't too excited for you to dye your hair! i mean i don't know any guys who are like "yeah blondes don't turn me on". Anyways I'm sure you will look good with whatever color. What color are your eyebrows though? as long as it sort of blends in with the eyebrows I say it's good!

I think girls look waaay better brunette. I'm a brunette and I love it, have always played around with hair colors [but never gone blonde! lol] and I really think you would look great brunette! and men ALWAYS hate the idea of hair changing and when you do it they love it! lol

honey i say try it!! who knows, hubs may love it!! and like you said, its just hair color, you can always change it back! DO IT!! you'll look amazing no matter what!!

If you're looking for a change I say dye it dark (despite what your hubby says), you can always dye it back blond if you don't like it. What is it with men wanting their women with lighter hair? Some people that don't have a lighter natural color look awful with lighter hair and vice versa (can you picture you and i with BLACK hair? lol) so I don't get it. But the blonde suits you definitely, I'm just saying if you want a change do it!

I think you should go dark! What's the worst that can happen...you don't like it and you can go back in a few months?!

Brunettes do have fun too, trust me on this!!! :)

I love brunettes! Although, I went back to my natural hair color which believe it or not is close to black and it really aged me :( So I immediately went back to the salon and went light again.
I think you are a gorgeous woman and would look great in any hair color.
