Blue on blue...

While blue isn't normally my colour, I've been really drawn to darker royal/electric blue shades lately. Something about it seems rich and luxurious for this time of year.

Somehow it's a bold shade while still managing to be understated and I think it works for both brunettes and blondes...

{Ruffle top from Forever 21  (ignore ridiculous bike shorts)}

{Blue Lanvin flats}

{Katherine Malandrino dress}

{Dior dress, Stuart Weitzman shoes}

And then yesterday I saw this picture of Kate and William shortly after their engagement announcement....love love love her dress! (Her blue sapphire ring, mmmeh, notsomuch but it was his mothers so it has sentimental value obviously.) She will most definitely be a lovely bride!

She looks gorgeous in that picture. I love her hair and dress. I'm on the fence over the ring. Do you know it only cost $60,000? And everyone hated it when Diana picked it? I do understand how sentimental it is. When she becomes queen she'll have more jewels than she knows what to do with!

My sister wore a vibrant blue when she was my maid of honor. I adore the color.

I'm really, really loving this color also!
Love her ring.. I feel sorry for the poor girl. Did you read where she's no longer going by Kate but being addressed as Catherine now?? It's no longer about her or what she likes, it's about to be how much she can compare to Princess Di.

I love Kate! (I will NOT call her Catherine, ugh.) I agree about the ring. I love the sentiment and maybe it's prettier in person, but I just love diamonds. Call me boring.

i'm so excited about the upcoming royal wedding. kate is adorable!!! she's so poised and classy. and william is such a stud! but i have a feeling he's going to look a lot like his heinous father when he gets older.

anyway, blue is a great color...especially on brunettes.

I love this shade of blue! I'm especially lusting after those blue flats. Sigh.

I have never seen Kate look so lovely in a photo. She has slimmed down considerably and looks FANTASTIC! She will definitely make a gorgeous bride for sure. Lucky girl. :)

I'm with you! I was swooning when I saw the engagement announcement and Kate's dress, it's gorgeous! I wonder if she wore it to match the ring?

I agree, blue can be such a nice, rich color. I laughed at your advice to ignore the bike shorts lol. I got a really nice blue dress from Bebe at Chinook that I'm going to wear to Ryan's xmas party=) It does look good on blondes and brunettes like you said =)
p.s. thanks for the expert advise on locations for oil executives. I had no idea you were an executive recruitter! That must have been a really cool job =)

Blue is not my color. At all. But, I love the shades of blue you posted! And what is up with the bike shorts? Seriously, Forever 21 can be a little goofy sometimes!
