Kardashian hair dreams are over

So about a little over a month ago I decided to take the plunge and take my hair colour back to my original dark brown (yes we've covered this I know.)  My dreams of Kardashian hair greatness have been greatly over estimated but I will say that overall I am happy with how the colour turned out.  Just about everyone (minus Husband) agrees that darker hair suits me and even makes my hair appear thicker (thicker looking hair you say? Those right there are the magic words.)

{Love em or hate them, these girls have fabulous hair}

But there is one major problem that's "popped" up so to speak...my grey is showing already. Yeah, thanks to my mom's side of the family and their less than stellar genes I've been cursed with fine hair that's been slowly going grey since I was 19. Yes, that's not a typo, 19 years old.  WHO has grey when they're barely legal?   And now with my blond highlights gone the grey is rearing it's ugly, wiry head.

{ok, this is NOT my head, my grey isn't nearly this bad but maybe in another 5-7 years or so. *sigh*}

So what to do? Does this mean I need to march myself back to my stylist every 5-6 weeks? There has got to be an easier way! I need suggestions, how do you cover your grey? (if you're unfortunate to have it...)  Should I try one of those "root touch up" type products from the drugstore? This hair has never been coloured outside of a salon...somehow I'd probably manage to dye it orange somewhere along the way. I'm talented like that.

{Yay or nay?}

I need your help girls....how can I manage my new darker hair colour with dropping $80.00 every few weeks?

Root touch up I think is your best option. Hair is so expensive isn't it? x

I so can relate! That's why I stopped highlighting my hair... it got WAY too expensive! Now I just stay happy with what I have ;-) As for your question, I think root touch up might be your best bet too. Go out and try a few different products and see what works best. Trial and error sadly.

As for the YSL ring? $200 and it never goes on sale {sign}! But still worth it :-)

I wanna see pics girl! And I'm sure you can't see it that much, but hmmmm i'd say touch up yourslef in between colorings. I go see my hair goddess (that's what I call her lol) every month and a half. Expensive but I save on shopping (totally don't go as often) and spend on my hair. It's my "thing". Lol have a great weekend!

I have the same problem. To be honest, I do my roots myself. I used to go to the salon but it's just SO expensive. I'd rather spend that money on shoes :) I buy $10 box dye at Target and do it myself :) I do it about once every 4 to 5 weeks and it works like a charm :)

I dye my hair with semi-permanent myself at home, can't fathom to spend a fortune on salon dyes especially since my hair is quite long. Problem is, I have greys too (at 28 it sucks) and since it's semi-perm, the greys pop up before the dye dies out.

I'm starting to go grey (I'm only 34, but my great grandmother was completely white by the time she was 20), so I've been paying attention to what my mom has to do, and it isn't pretty. She's tried every brand and type of at home dye, and it just never turns out right. AND you should see her bathroom- there's dye all over the place! She's now going to a salon every six weeks and forking over the big bucks. When it's my turn I'll probably try the at home stuff first, and work my way up.

I do love your brown hair! Bumble and Bumble makes a tinted spray powder that helps cover outgrowth! It also does magic in absorbing oils so you don't have to wash your hair every day! Which....I love!!!!

DO NOT use over-the-counter touch up products! Do you do your own taxes? Would you sell your house yourself? There are reasons there are professionals that train to do these things. Use them!

Can't believe I missed this post! First of all those girls all have EXTENSIONS. No one has hair that luxurious. :-)

I've been gray since I was 19 too!! That's why I dye my hair so blond. It hides the gray.

The root touch-up is a life-saver. it's easy to use and it will blend nicely. The only problem is you will need to redye them in 2-3 weeks. The color just isn't as powerful as in the salon...

My mama was 80% grey at 27. Thankfully I don't have that much...but I have a good crop of white hairs right now. I'm still resisting coloring my hair, but I have a feeling that any day now my stylist is going to tell me it's time!

eeks! i have no idea...never had to deal with that. i say go cheap for touch up. and actually, if i remember correctly, most salons will do a touch up for less than normal to cover the gray. it's called something but i can't rememeber.

We have so much in common: I too have been grey since the age of 19, so I hear your pain! I was blond for a couple of years, and even though it totally didn't suit me, I loved not being able to see the grey 7 days after getting my roots done.
You're beautiful...Kardashian dreams, pfffttt....you're so much more!

I agree with the root touch up suggestions. Damn genes, hey? I inherited lots of cellulite on my legs and arse from my mom's side. THANKS MOM.
